The exchange students will fly from Germany to New York City with a chaperone from the Auslandsgesellschaft and spend five days exploring the city. The program includes visits to the One World Center, the 9/11 Memorial, a bike tour through Central Park, and more. Afterward, the group will travel by private coach to Buffalo, where they will be warmly welcomed by their host families and Program Director Amy Hardy.
Host families and exchange students will have plenty of time to bond and enjoy their first activities together, as high school classes do not begin until a few days after arrival. Over the following weeks, exchange students will attend high school and experience everyday American life.
Every three to four weeks, a weekend excursion is organized, featuring trips to Niagara Falls, a Buffalo city tour, river rafting, high ropes courses, and more. These activities are coordinated and supervised by Program Director Amy Hardy. Host siblings can join these excursions free of charge, and other family members are warmly invited to participate.
In the first week of December, a farewell party will be held for all participants and host families. That weekend, it will be time to say goodbye as the group travels by private coach to Toronto to catch their flight back to Germany.“
